The sound of the rain is hitting our ears once again and we don’t like it. Oh no we don’t, especially that it results in floods in the metro. And how devastating is that- when we miss our work, need to cancel appointments, let parties pass and be stocked within the walls of the house while waiting for the rain to stop? This is a common problem that also has simple answers.
You don’t actually have to stop everything and wait until the rain stops. There are just so many things that you can endure yourself with that can make your time worthwhile. Here are five things to do to cut the doldrums:
1. Connect with friends
If you can’t be with friends in person then at least you still keep in touch with them through the phone or the net. The mobile networks and social networking sites are never sleeping to provide the fastest connectivity possible. You can chat with friends in the phone who might also be stranded at home because of the rain or start a status in Facebook, twitter and other types of social media to harbour attention and start exchanges of comments. In this way, you have something to occupy your mind with other than everything that you missed the whole day.
2. Do your assignments
Are there things that you need to do and be done with? If yes, then its due time that you work on them. Don’t waste your time by mumbling around and being disgusted by the rain when you have something to do. That day might be all the time you have waited to accomplish pending tasks. In this case, you missed some necessary things but have completed one relevant work.
3. Movie marathon
Start the film rolling and watch movies that you’ve been planning to see with the company of your family. The rain might be the element you needed to bond with the people in the house once again. Grab your favourite snacks and take the pleasure of being in the cinema only with a smaller screen. An event like this is one good moment to strengthen relationships and bond with loved ones.
4. Do some cooking
What better way to kill the time than being busy filling your stomach with sumptuous and delicious meal! If you haven’t cooked for a while already, then it is certainly the best time to bring out the chef aspirant in you. Grab your ingredients and start making your favourite meal. You can most especially opt for a soupy dish to warm the body up from the coldness of the day. Gather the family for a meal and while enjoying what you have prepared, everyone can also enjoy chitchats around the table.
5. Play under the rain
You don’t really have to avoid the rain every time it falls. Sometimes, you just have to feel its presence while allowing it to pour unto you and bring back old childhood memories. You can invite friends from the neighbourhood to join your little childish fun. This way, you can laugh and play around under the rain even with the mud getting on your feet. Sometimes, you have to loosen up and bring out the child in you to really enjoy life to the fullest.
